  1. A catalog of this sort is done for collectors and collectors are always searching for rarities. A rarity index is essential to a guide like this. Does it have it or not? didn’t figure it out from the teaser…

    1. I am afraid that it currently does not feature a rarities index. The best estimation would I guess be its price on Bricklink. I provide the Bricklink codes, so you could look them up if necessary. This is a good suggestion and I will consider it for the next edition! Thank you!

  2. Looks very interesting; the video says it’s ‘available now’, but I haven’t been able to find out how to order it … is it available yet? If so, can you post where it can be ordered from; if not, when is it expected to be published? Thanks :-)

    1. The book is currently with the publisher. I am expecting it to be available at Amazon.com in July. I will make a blog post as soon as it is available.

  3. This is very interesting and could certainly fill a niche that needs some guidance. Don’t take this the wrong way but, you advertise it as “all LEGO Minifigures Released”, that’s a bold statement. How do you know that? Where did your data come from?

    1. Dear Tom, you are right that this is a daring statement. I thought about phrasing it differently, such as “almost all”, or “most” or even “many”, but it never came close to what I really wanted to express. I am fairly certain that I got them all, but of course it is almost impossible to form some sort of ground truth. Maybe even LEGO does not know it. In the book, I ask the reader to help me improve the book and I would like to extend this invitation to you. Please let me know if I miss information or if I made mistakes. Through your feedback will I have the chance to improve the book.

      1. I like your attitude. I will be getting my hands on a copy. While I’m no Minifig expert I can tell you LEGO historically doesn’t know what they built, especially older than 20 years ago. I’m sure there are many fans out there who will provide lots of feedback.

    1. This book focuses on the “normal” Minifigures. I hope to be able to include Duplo, Technic, Scala and all the other “larger” figures in the next edition of the book.

  4. Will this be available in digital form as well or just printed copy?

Looks great and thnak you for putting it together especially with cross-references

    1. Dear Jak,
We intend to take full advantage of the interactive media by developing an iOS version. Have a look at the App tab on top. We hope to get it done by the end of the year.

  5. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but any guide to LEGO in printed format will be out of date as soon as it is published. Do you intend to release ‘supplements’ each year?
I think you should at least be provided with a link to download the most current version with the book.
Do you have any vague pricing info? And when will it be released in the UK?
    Many Thanks

    1. Dear Matthew,
I agree with you a book will always lack behind the most recent releases of LEGO. We therefore intend to release and iOS App this year which can easily be updated. I am going to continue releasing new versions of the book, but I am not sure yet which format this will take. The book will be available worldwide in July through Amazon.com and other book resellers.

  6. Hi folks! Thank you so much for undertaking these amazing projects (book and app). I’m eagerly awaiting both and really can’t believe I hadn’t heard about this until yesterday’s Brickset post. I’ve blogged about it as well over here on Ka-GO. Hope it helps get the word out. Impressive!

      1. Excited to see that the book is out. Can’t swing the hardcopy just yet, but I was considering the ebook. Question though… Will there ne a version of the iBook that’s viewable on iPads? Right now, from what I could tell, the ebook is in an Adobe format that requires an Adobe client and isn’t crurrently viewable on the iPad. Is that right or am I wrong? Also, I’m pretty handy on the layout / design end of things. I love this project and, if you need anything, I’d love to help. Oh, and of course I’ll continue to push it on the blog because it deserves the attention.

  7. Hello,

I truly admire this project and it makes me very excited. The only downside I can think of is the inability to update the information to those who have already bought the book. If you sold some digital version of this that could somehow be updated, like World Book worked, it would be awesome. However, I ignore completely if this is feasible at this time.

    1. We are planing an iOS App. That would be a digital book. We are also considering “updates”, but we are not sure what format they will take.

  8. I just read about your book on brickset and can hardly wait until I can get it here in Germany. This is 100% what I was looking for. I love to have catalogs in book form even though other media might be more up-to-date. It looks like you did a wonderful job, thanks for the effort!!!

    1. Leider hat noch keine Deutsche webseite über dieses Buch berichtet. Vieleicht könntest Du im Forum von 1000Steine.de einen kleinen Beitrag einstellen?

  9. On the App front – don’t get bogged down with iOs. Look at doing HTML5 web app instead. That’ll increase the appeal I think.
In the meantime I’ll be ordering to add to my groaning LEGO shelf! :-)

    1. I will drive to the airport today to pick up the next proof print. If it is okay, I can release the book. I am not certain how long it will then take Amazon to list the book. I am also very impatient. I want the book to be out there…

  10. Great book, it will go well with the set collectors guide on my shelf.

Just remember that not everyone has a iPhone/iPad. Ive got a Android phone and know a number of people with a Windows Mobile phone. Any plans to release apps for those platforms as well?

  11. Hi,

Nice that this book get out. –> Downside: the price at $ 89,-.

A digital version would be better, jus like stated a few times. Updates can be doen straight away –> Downside: you won’t be doing a IOS version, but a HTML-version –> you have to do a IOS-App version –> Apple is taking over the world and would not want to miss this.

    Keep up the good work.

  12. Is the book hard cover to soft?

And is the price $89 including delivery? Im in Australia.

Also dont suppose Christopher could sign a copy if I buy one? :)

    1. The shipping costs are extra, depending on your location. Please have a look at what Amazon and/or CreateSpace charge for the delivery. Should not be too much. I would love to sign a copy for you.

  13. Congrats on release. I’m looking forward to looking at it.

I bought the digital edition, however Adobe Digital Edition is driving me up the wall. I’ve attempted download it 4 times already and ADE like giving me an error in some way or form each time.

Hopefully I won’t have to buy the hard copy because of ADE.

  14. hi,
the app includes a feature to download wanted lists from brickset, however this feature does not work with figures not in the app. eg.2012 figs can a patch be inc to allow pictures off new figs to be included? perhaps on going additions for a charge?
    many thanks
    tim

  15. Love the APP just downloaded it the other day, plan to buy the book for my girlfriend eventually as well. the only downfall i feel isthe fact that the accessories for each figure is not shown, I bought a big group of parts and figures for my girlfiend recently and have been struggling to get all the right accessories and heads with the figure, your APP certainly helped with the head issues!! any word on adding accessories to the mix?
